Get ready to move your waistline for a full day of celebrations as a frenzy of vibrant colors, sparkling sequins, and swaying feathers take precedence through the Belize City streets in September on Carnival Day!

The day starts before dawn with J’ouvert, a spectacle for all ages to enjoy through the streets of Belize City. Dress to get covered in colored mud, chocolate, and paint as you dance until daylight. Rejuvenate with a few hours’ rest as the street side starts to get flooded with locals from across the country to enjoy the carnival festivities. First organized in 1975 by The Committee of Forty, this top attraction occurs the weekend before the Battle of St. George’s Caye Day activities. The Carnival Road March kicks off in the afternoon along the Central American Boulevard and through other principal streets of Belize. It is truly an event for the young and young-at-heart, with junior and senior bands who have prepared months prior. Join in the celebrations and lively dances of Carnival Road March as bands dressed in extravagant costumes performs their well-choreographed routines throughout the streets.
