Belize Reef Week
With over 608,740 acres of preserved waters, including 13 marine protected zones and the thriving (185 mile-long) Barrier Reef, Belize annually celebrates “Reef Week”!
The 12th annual Reef Week will be March 4th- 11th, 2023, and the theme this year is “For health, wealth, and pleasure, our reef is a treasure!” Join in celebrating a week filled with educational and civic-minded events that highlight ways the Belize Barrier Reef contributes to the national economy and Belizean identity. A lot is going on! From classroom presentations, clean-ups, a run through the streets of Belize City, and the traditional ride to the Reef from the Capital City Belmopan to the coast.
As an important marine biodiversity wonder and “World Heritage Site” since 1996, Belize’s Barrier Reef holds spectacular adventure opportunities for snorkelers and scuba divers. Let’s celebrate our Reef, shall we?
