Hickatee Cottages is a quaint full facility lodge approximately 1.5 miles from the Punta Gorda town. Built in 2005 on 20 acres, it has been created with minimal impact to the environment, and maximum benefit to the community by using local contractors, labor, and suppliers. A small part of the land had been cleared several years before for small-scale farming and it is only this area which has been re-developed for the Cottages. The ‘lion’s share’ of Hickatee Cottages is in its original natural state, with many large trees and lush vegetation and is home to an array of wildlife – howler monkeys, toucans, hummingbirds, blue morpho butterflies, bats, and several other creatures! We are outside of the Punta Gorda city limits and we are off-grid, predominately solar-powered, with comfortable rooms, a low-key relaxed atmosphere and custom service for any group travel need. Hickatee offers 6 cottage house ranging in size. Each house has its own entrance and en-suite facilities, including fully screened windows for excellent ventilation, ceiling fans, hot showers, hammocks on each verandah and comfortable beds. The facility also includes a separate house for the gathering area. It includes a bar, dining area, kitchen facilities and library! We have plenty of seating to relax with a book from our library or sit at the bar, and to come together for a group meal on the outdoor verandah. Group travel packages can include catered meal services or a fully equip kitchen should your group prefer to self-cater. Additional amenities at Hickatee Cottages include: • Private use of grounds, nature trails throughout the property • Fully equipped kitchen for any self-catering need • Access to on-site splash pool • Use of cruiser bikes • Complimentary WIFI • On-site hosts, including nightly security • 100% off-grid; solar-operated (with a generator back-up for comfort) • Rainwater showers (with a well back-up for comfort) • Fans in all cottages (no A/C) • Free Parking The Toledo District has so much to offer any traveler.
